Student Groups

  • The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) - The country's largest organization for students of architecture, providing the best programs, information, and resources available. The AIAS is the student affiliate of the AIA and your link to professionals in the fields of architecture and environmental design.
  • Associated Students in Planning (ASP) - ASP is a group that works to provide city and regional planning students with professional and social activities allowing them to become better acquainted with their peers and professors.
  • Association of Environmental Professionals, Cal Poly SLO Student Chapter - AEP is a non-profit organization of professionals working to improve our skills as environmental practitioners and natural resource managers. AEP is dedicated to the enhancement, maintenance, and protection of the natural and human environment.
  • Cal Poly Zero Waste Club - The Cal Poly Zero Waste Club is a group of like-minded students, faculty, and community members in favor of making our campus and personal lifestyles less wasteful, and more green, by sending less waste to the landfill.
  • Emerging Green Professionals (EGP) - USGBC Emerging Professionals seek to engage all those who are interested in learning about and advocating for sustainable building practices.
  • Empower Poly Coalition - A networking hub for environmental and humanitarian efforts at Cal Poly.
  • Green Campus – This student group works together to promote energy efficiency and environmental stewardship on the Cal Poly campus.
  • NET IMPACT Cal Poly - Net Impact represents a new generation of leaders who are transforming the world through the work we do on campus, in our communities, and throughout our careers.

 

Cal Poly Programs and Courses

  • California Center for Construction Education - An educational outreach unit at Cal Poly designed to provide practitioner education, applied research services, and consultation to the design and construction industry in the state of California and to serve the community at large as a national clearinghouse for industry leadership, knowledge, technology, and innovation.
  • Resilient Communities Research Institute (RCRI) - The RCRI’s mission is to engage in research activities and technical support in the areas of the design, regeneration, sustainability, and construction of a safe and secure built environment.
  • Solar Decathlon - The Solar Decathlon is a collegiate competition in which 15 universities across the nation form teams to create and build functional net-zero homes.
  • Sustainable Environments Minor - This minor educates students within the University in the principles and various aspects of sustainable environmental design with global, regional and local perspectives and concepts. It provides students with the knowledge and abilities needed to integrate concerns for ecology, social equity, and economics within the context of human and natural resource systems and the built environment.
