Meeting with your career counselor is a great way to receive guidance on a wide range of career-related topics such as: career exploration, changing majors, developing career plans, creating a resume, finding internships and full-time jobs, effective networking, developing graduate school plans, and making successful career transitions.

Freshman Focus Team

Career Counselors who specifically serve freshman students and understand their unique career development needs.

Scheduling Summer Appointments: The Freshman Focus Team is happy to meet with current or incoming first-year students over the summer, either in person or remotely. If you're unable to schedule an appointment through MustangJOBS powered by Handshake, please call (805) 756-2501.

Who can meet with a Career Counselor?

  • Enrolled Cal Poly Students
  • Recent Alumni (within one year of graduation)
  • Cal Poly Alumni (1 hour appointment/per year)
  • Cal Poly Faculty/Staff

To make an appointment, log into MustangJOBS and click "Appointments" on the left-hand navigation bar or call (805) 756-2501 ext. 1.

Scheduled Appointments are your opportunity to meet individually with your Career Counselor and address your specific needs. Appointments range from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the topic.

FasTrak   Drop-In

Do you need immediate career-related help? Career advisors are available to assist you on a wide range of topics on a walk-in basis.

Extended Drop-in: Career counselors are providing extended drop-in hours during these times to help you prepare for all your fall career-related needs.

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Career Services, Building 124, Room 224 (upstairs) 

  • Monday 9/18 – Thursday 9/21
  • Monday 9/25 and Tuesday 9/26

Appointments are limited to 15 minutes, and are offered on a first-come, first serve basis. Please note: drop-in hours are not offered during quarterly finals, breaks, summer quarter, or Career Fair networking open forum times.

Drop-In Hours   College Specific Drop-In Hours

Career counselors provide weekly drop-in hours throughout the academic year, serving students on a first come, first serve basis. Sessions are limited to 15 minutes long.
